Joy and Justice with Jim Embry
Time & Location
Jun 19, 2023, 10:00 AM – 12:00 PM CDT
Bridal Veil Gardens , Bridal Veil Cir, Minneapolis, MN 55414, USA
About the event
We invite youth ages 14-24 to join us Monday, June 19, from 10-12 PM at the South High Food Forest (corner of 19th Ave. and 32nd St.) in Minneapolis to discuss the power of urban agriculture, self-sustainability, and caring for the earth and one another!
Jim Embry of Sustainable Communities Network (who is currently on his 2023 Joy and Justice Journey in June that will bring him to the Twin Cities June 16-20) will speak to our youth on the history of Juneteenth and how it relates to food injustice and urban agriculture. He'll discuss jobs youth have available in the area of urban agriculture, and then we'll create seed balls to grow all over town and share CEED's new Nature's Cookbook, full of delicious and nutritious meals before enjoying our lunch together. Please bring a pair of garden gloves if you have one and a chair or blanket (or just enjoy the grass!).
