About the event
30 Years of Peace: Honoring Our Roots, Shaping Our Future
Join us for the historic 30th Annual Community Peace Celebration!
Three decades ago, the Community Peace Celebration began as a response to violence—a movement sparked by a traveling Peace Pole and a simple, powerful message: “May Peace Prevail on Earth.” Since that first gathering in 1997, we have grown from a neighborhood event into a vibrant "web of neighbors," proving that peace is not just a dream, but an active, collective practice.

Honoring the Peaceful Love Warrior
This year’s celebration holds a deep significance as we gather for the first time since the passing of our founder and enduring inspiration, Elder Melvin Giles.
Melvin spent 29 years cultivating this space for healing, storytelling, and solidarity. As we mourn his loss, we also resolve to carry his torch forward. The 30th Annual Celebration will be a dedicated tribute to his life’s work, promoting the legacy of the message that "peace will prevail on earth".
What to Expect
This is more than just a party, it is a demonstration of our collective strength and joy. Our 30th-anniversary program features:
Live Music & Dance: Dynamic performances by local artists showcasing the beauty and diversity of our neighborhood.
Community Meal: A shared table where neighbors can connect over good food and conversation.
Resource Fair: Access to local organizations, tools for advocacy, and community-focused solutions for peace.
Interactive Art: Reflections from our "Weaving Peace" activations held throughout the year.
